Description
Caballero is a custom-built 12m performance cruiser designed by Roger Hill Yacht Design in collaboration with Des Townson and professionally built in strip plank cedar and epoxy GRP composite by Rob Dainty in Auckland.Launched in April 1999, Caballero is unquestionably a very fine yacht. While true to Townson's lines, the interior is thoroughly modern with a double quarter cabin aft, large island double forward with en-suite and a second day head aft.
The interior is finished in light American Maple which, combined with numerous opening deck hatches and hull portlights forward, creates a bright, light and well-ventilated interior space.
The designer and builders attention to detail is evident with all lines led aft which combined with Leisurefurl main and electric halyard winch makes sail management a breeze. The equipment onboard is first class with newer Raymarine sailing instruments, as-new radial cut sails, 90 LPH watermaker, auto capstan with stainless chain and full bimini with connecting panel to the dodger.
The painted surfaces present in excellent condition including the rig. Essentially a one-owner yacht, (24 years with its first owner) the boat has been expertly and carefully maintained throughout its life.
Comfort below is excellent with wrap-around leather settee and a large dining table, ample counter space with two fridges and large freezer, oven, microwave and ample hot water off the engine.
The yachts LPG and shore power connection are certified and tagged. Caballero is a yacht any owner would be proud to own and with Townson's sailing performance and sea-kindly manners, she is well capable of big-mile days and competitive inshore/coastal racing.
