Description

Designed by Craig Loomes and built by Peter Parvin/Qualicraft, Hawere was developed as a multipurpose vessel, resulting in a workboat with large deck, easy access to the water and accommodation facilities to service eight researchers and a professional skipper. Her versatility has allowed this sea kindly vessel to explore the NZ coast with various agencies and academics. The voyages have included dives expeditions to the Three Kings.


Hawere is a large volume vessel with a high sheer line forward and flare to maximise sea keeping. Designed to cruise at 18-knot with a soft ride in moderate weather. The accommodation area is open plan, with headroom up to 3m and plenty of natural light provided by three overhead hatches and ten fixed hull ports. It has a very spacious feel. The wet-lab is accessed from the cockpit. The bridge seats six passengers plus the skipper and a pilot berth is provided in the port, rear corner.
 

She is powered by twin Caterpilar 320 Hp

The vessel will appeal to those in the adventure tourism business or possibly the needs of the full-on recreational fishing and diving sector. She would also suit the adventuresome as she would be a great vessel to explore Fiordland.
