... where every sale results in a happy buyer and a happy seller

Testimonials

Hi Colin
Diana and I would like to express our thanks and appreciation for the manner in which Busfield Marine Brokers, and you in particular, handled the marketing and sale of our Hallberg Rassy 48 yacht "Enki II".

The complexity of our being in Sydney, the yacht in Auckland and the majority of interest coming from overseas buyers was always going to be a challenge, one that we can say you handled with enthusiasm, patience and courtesy. NZ Customs requirements were clarified and dealt with in similar fashion.

The pre sale negotiations with the eventual buyers and the subsequent assistance you offered both to them and us during the handover process in Auckland was exemplary.

Kind regards

Alex and Diana

"Recently we purchased a yacht thru Colin Rees at Busfield Marine. We were impressed by not only how efficiently the process of selling a boat was managed but more particularly how well Colin kept a neutral position between the buyer and seller while still offering very good advice to each. We took his advice on board and as a result were able to see past a few short comings we had concerning the boat that could have prevented us from moving forward. We are now very happy owners of our new boat and can thoroughly recommend the yacht brokerage services offered by Colin at Busfield Marine."

"My first encounter with Christine Bird was back in 2006 as she  was the  Broker with ` Whites International Yachts Mallorca` through whom we bought our Van de Stadt 34 `New Leaf`. As the yacht had been damaged slightly by drifting ashore I was determined to give her a real good looking over and right away I found in Christine a person with an obvious passion for boats and sailing as in no time at all she was winching me up the mast and had organized for me to dive on the boat. So after giving `New Leaf `a good look over and finding a problem with a bent rudder stock it was time to make a decision at which time again Christine became ever helpful, as through her  local knowledge of the sailing community she soon had an estimate made for the cost of the rudder repair. After some thought and help from Christine we found ourselves being guided expertly through the process of making an offer and securing the purchase of our first yacht. So by now we had discovered we had a friend beside us who was only too happy to continue to help us to arrange to have the necessary repairs made in order for us to start to enjoy our boat. So for us to hear Chris is back working as a broker after finishing her around the world sailing trip we have no problem in recommending her character and experience to anyone in need of assistance when buying a boat."

"My family has owned a 60' motor sailer for 20 years in which we have cruised the pacific extensively.   Now the family has expanded we decided to look for something a little larger with a longer range.  Visiting Auckland, I was window shopping local yacht brokerages.  A 72' steel Salthouse yacht caught my eye.  My first contact was with Colin Rees of Busfield Marine and I started to ask the normal questions.  Colin demonstrated his experience of 15 years by offering to inspect the yacht in Vanuatu with my wife and I.  He obviously knew he had a buyer and not a time waster.  We subsequently purchased the yacht.  Colin acted very professionally in negotiations with the vendor and myself, closed the agreement with an accurate contract and managed the settlement and the transfer of the foreign registry documentation.  Busfield Marine's USD account was convenient. I highly recommend Busfield Marine as a boat brokerage.  Colin's long term experience in the industry clearly evident."

"Busfield Marine showed great skills at sourcing a genuine interest, but we were especially impressed by their follow up during the closing period.  Colin managed to close this deal which was especially complex, since the yacht, the seller and the buyer were all located abroad in three different countries."

"I first met Christine in 2005 in Andraitx, Majorca when I was buying a boat through White’s International Brokerage. Christine was the broker managing the transaction. My first impression was of an attractive, intelligent young lady with excellent inter-personal skills. As the deal progressed I became further impressed by her thoroughness, attention to detail and wide knowledge of boats and of the yachting scene. The sometimes difficult deal was accomplished to every one’s satisfaction. We, my wife and I, based our boat in Andraitx and over the next couple of years we enjoyed Christine’s friendship and the benefit of her extensive local knowledge and experience.
When we came to sell the boat two years later it was natural that we should turn to Christine for help in locating the boat we were looking for. Her efforts in exploring the market, accompanying us on inspections and her general guidance were invaluable.
I must also add that her catering skills are truly remarkable.
I wholeheartedly recommend Christine to you."

"We'd been looking for a yacht since 2003.  Then finally, in 2006, the sailboat of our dreams came up for sale.
We were still in Australia at the time and the boat was in Barcelona, Spain.
We contacted Christine and she sent us additional information and photos of the vessel.  We were then pretty much convinced that it was what we wanted.  Again, through Christine, we sent a deposit before flying over for a closer inspection.  A deposit, we were assured, would be fully refunded if the yacht was in any way different from the photos or the listing we received via email.
She also went beyond her duties as a broker and secured accommodation for us for the week we spent in Barcelona viewing in the yacht.  When we arrived, we were immediately met a the marina and had our first look at "tehani.li".  Then through the week we were able, accompanied by Christine, to review the boat completely and ensure all the systems were in working order.  A haul-out and surveyor was also organised during the time we were in Barcelona.
All in all, Christine helped us in every way to make the purchase of the boat easy and hassle free.  No mean feat when buying a yacht overseas!
Today we still own and enjoy full time sailing on "tehani-li".
Thank you Christine
